For many years I have had co-occurring anxiety with being autistic. When I faced something new or challenging, my first idea was to run away. I knew I would eventually become successful. Many things in the past I was unwilling to give a chance to see how they worked out. Some things were done with support and others out of both support and necessity.

It can be challenging when anxious thoughts arise. They tell you that you can’t do things because you fear something will go wrong. Do what you need to do to help yourself. This can prepare you for a successful transition. Transitioning to what is needed can be done if it is deemed necessary. Eventually, by acknowledging anxiety and replacing it with helpful techniques, you can see past the hype it brings. This can aid you in getting through the day without overthinking. It can make the time until what you’re worried about easier.

I never realized one of the biggest necessities is a good night’s sleep. Taking a good shower before bed is important. This is especially true when you have something to do early in the morning. It can greatly help you go to sleep with ease. It also helps you properly stay asleep. Another thing that should be a no-brainer is to follow through with necessary medications. This is crucial, especially if they are proven to work. It took me several years to understand the necessity of having medication. My brain needed it to properly regulate the stimuli it was producing. This helped keep a healthy balance. As a result, I was not only capable of sleeping, but I was also capable of staying calm. This was true during anxious moments. Additionally, I got acclimated to what I was afraid of.

Anxiety is a part of me because I am autistic. It is one of the many challenges I have to face when it is triggered. I have to learn to be patient with myself. I must develop and use the necessary coping skills I have created. These skills are for moments when my anxiety produces adrenaline and cortisol. I should also work to pass the energy out in a healthy and appropriate manner. This way, I can move ahead with the day in the best way I can.

Anxiety is always going to be in my life. There is nothing that can be done about it. Still, I can manage myself to reduce worry. This means not getting overly concerned about things out of my control. These are things that, if given the chance, will manage quite well. Even in those instances, you feel that nothing will improve with changes or new situations. It’s important to have the confidence and sometimes the right supports. These allow you to transition into something you are anxious about as smoothly as you can.
