Through life, there has been many struggles that have made it difficult to sometimes even make it through the day. There are times when I feel really bad about myself. It can be a struggle to hold on and keep going. Refocusing is hard. Still, I always know that giving up is not the way out. Ultimately, some saving graces get me through the day.

Sometimes I am faced with reality. It can be hard to focus on just getting through it. This is because there are so many things about reality that can be challenging to deal with. These things are hard to digest. Nonetheless, they are a reality when it comes to facing life and its struggles. It takes reminding myself that things will always be alright. That I have to be patient and understand that today is not tomorrow. I fight facing the facts of what is going on. I eventually bounce back ready to make better choices. I continue to be stronger. This happens maybe because I think about all of those that care about me, even when I don’t believe so.

Feelings aren’t always one of those literal things that we can always see. It can be hard to know that we are loved. Or that we are cared about. It can be difficult to hold our heads high when we think about the worst things in our lives. Being proud of ourselves in those moments is challenging. We keep going because we know that it is the best thing for us. We understand that it is the only answer. We cope in the ways that we can. We manage things the best way we know how. We do what we need to do to get by. But we must never, ever give up in our fight.

When we are autistic or have other challenges, we seem overwhelmed by situations. We think they are just too much for us to handle. Sometimes, as is in my case, anxiety kicks in. It wants us to avoid everything that is too much. We just think life can be easier if those things were gone away from our lives. I read that we need to confront what triggers our anxiety. These are the things we often want to avoid. If we don’t face what causes our anxiety, it will never get easier for us. We need to confront hard things instead of avoiding them until the anxiety wanes.

It is overcoming the feelings we experience. These are overwhelming moments we don’t want to face, a hard time shopping, or just a bad day. It is being stronger than what our brain leads us to believe. I know that I have many people who care about me. They are proud of me. They even love me for who I am. Sometimes, hearing or being reminded of those things keeps me going in tough times. I think about throwing opportunities away or just sulking in the bad stuff. I always know that giving up my battles and struggles is never a choice. It is best to find ways to bring some joy to the table. This is essential when doing what is needed for me to exist in this world.
