There have been many times in my life where it can seem like everything is against you. In the past, it can feel like no one likes you or wants to target you. But, sometimes you need to make things right with yourself. You are sensitive to the way you are told about things or the feedback you are given.
The reality is that the world does not revolve around us and our likes and desires. There are rules and expectations that we must follow. They are not always consistent or clearly laid out to the point that we understand them. Sometimes things change. We have to re-tool ourselves to align with the current way of things. We need to let go of what is no longer the way things are done. Most importantly, we must hold our head high and accept what we must. This is crucial when we feel stressed. It is also crucial when we feel sensitive about feedback or tasks we are assigned.
One of the biggest things that I have had to accept was that I can’t always get what I want. Not everything can be the way I want it to be. This is because it does not ease my mind. It also does not solve the feelings that I am experiencing. We can’t read the minds of others. There are unwritten rules we need to understand. These rules must be explained to us so we understand what is expected of us. There are also moments that stress or trigger certain feelings in us. We feel targeted and wrong when in fact we are not. It can just be the way that we feel because of what happened in our lives.
It can feel like we are against the world. This happens when we are given feedback or when things happen that we don’t like. It also occurs when we disagree with something. We feel punished for doing what we sometimes feel we need to do. These actions help us navigate and fit into a world with complicated and ever-changing social norms and evolving unwritten rules. When we are given feedback, it can feel like we are being scolded. The way that we read into things can seem harsher than what they really are.
We must understand that we need to be told things. Part of that is getting and accepting feedback. We need to do this no matter how much we want to avoid it or run away from it. It can sometimes feel like we just want to run away from our problems. Still, we must understand that part of life is accepting the things that are unwanted or unpleasant. Our feelings are intense at that very moment. It is crucial not to react or lash out at others. We want to release the tension we are feeling, but instead, we must take time to process and understand. Then, we should adapt and do what is asked of us if we can.
We feel like we want our feelings to go away. But, it’s important to remember the good things we have in our lives. What we are experiencing at the moment doesn’t completely define us or make us who we are. We have to learn and grow in our own way. Part of that is being what we don’t like. It’s also about seeing the whole picture of the fabric of our lives. While it can feel like the world is against us, remember this feeling is temporary. This too shall pass, and it will move on like everything else in our lives.
