The autism community is in a buzz today.

At the top of the hour the president and some leaders are going to make some announcements with the theme “Make America Healthy Again”

Part of those things is making a statement about the causes of autism.

Quite frankly, I don’t care.

It doesn’t matter to me what the cause is, where it comes from or what can be done to prevent it.

The reality is that there’s always been some evidence of me being autistic from a very young age.

Although because of my ability to articulate my diagnosis on the spectrum wasn’t attainable until I was 13.

No, life hasn’t been easy. There’s been many struggles I’ve had to face to get to where I am today, but I’ve fought the battles I needed to fight to get where I am today.

Do I dislike some of the challenges I face at times, yes. They’re the things that I’d like to improve.

But there’s just things that make me who I am because of autism. They make me such an asset to so many people and because of the many people who supported me along the way, I am the person who I am because both they and I have accepted my autism for what it is.

I wouldn’t change my life in any other way.

Today an announcement will come whether we like it or not. We don’t have the ability to change what is going to be said, but we have the power to choose to take it for what it is.

But for me, today is Monday and we have a routine to follow and life goes on no matter what is said.
