Well, I know what I am in for.
Today’s dental visit was a consultation including x-rays and an exam. Some cavities were discovered, likely due to my excessive soda consumption.
The fillings will be taken care of but being that this dentist is more tailored to special needs, I am presently scheduled for that the week before Thanksgiving (Late-November) of this year.
After which, I will have a cleaning scheduled for December 2025.
I understand that it is a long wait. But this is one of those instances that it is worth it.
I have not had dental care since at least summer of 2017, it may have been before that because my insurance made a transition as of the first of 2018.
I did not want to go back to that provider for various reasons, but couldn’t anyway because they did not take returning patients with my insurance.
A few months ago, I had worked in earnest to find a new dentist tailoring towards autism and special needs. After looking at past places or finding longer waiting lists just to get a consultation because of my insurance, this dentist was the closest location and the best one that suited my needs.
The visit as far as the exams and cleaning overall went very well, gentle and everything was explained to me very clearly.
So, I will wait for my time. I am on the “short call” list if a cancellation comes in that I can take in the meantime, but as of right now, I am planning on riding the storm for the care that I need. I’ve waited this long, and got in the door, so what’s waiting a little more?
I know I must be kinder to my teeth in the interim until the cleaning and I plan on working towards that. Sometimes there are things that just tell us that we need to get real about all aspects of our health and hygiene, this is one of those times/
Stay well. my friends.
