Started this morning with a much needed follow up visit with my family doctor. The word family is taken to heart because my family doctor also doctors my parents and with everything going on the past two months, they just want to make sure that I’m doing okay. They could have been harsh about the weight gain but because I had my blood drawn shortly before my dad had fallen ill, there were some things in the testing that the doctor wanted repeated just to make sure I’m well physically. I know I have to focus on losing weight and it will come in its own time but with everything going on, being sensible and understanding is what matters.
Then we went to the veterans hospital to see my Dad. Getting there and back was less stressful. He’s made so much progress in nearly the week that he’s been there than all throughout the past few months. He’s been sitting in the chair when therapies are happening and he’s been moving a lot more.
It’s not where he or anyone wants to be but hands down it’s the best place for him to get all the innovative care that he needs to continue to see progress. Therapists take the time to explain things to us and ask us if there’s anything we feel he needs to work on.
As for me, as we have to wear medical masks in the hospital, powerful smells can be more of a challenge when I have to practice universal masking, so when that became a little much I excused myself to the Cafe and took a break until things were settled. I actually had 5 red grapes in the container with the cheese it was partnered with and that’s a big win.
On the way home we stopped and ate at Cracker Barrel and were actually able to enjoy a meal and relax for a bit. It was really good and I handled the noise pollution quite well even with a Happy Birthday song sang by the wait staff to a guest behind me.
Never say that you don’t want to do something until you know it would be a horrific thing. Give things a chance and see how they would work before actually dissenting them.
