At times, it can be hard to look at all the good things that are in my life and see the things that are good along with the things that I need to be grateful for. It can many times be easier to complain about the things that are hard or are wrong in my life. Indeed, having the challenges that I experience in my life are a cross to bear, but there is a reality that I have came a long way in this journey when there have been way more challenging and hopeless days and to be where I am today is nothing short of a miracle.

While it can be hard to be in the present moment and choose happiness instead of pointing everything out that is wrong with my life. Choosing the negative things about the situations that I have in my life are often the first route that I want to go to. I do not take the time to realize how much effort it has taken me to get to having the things and skills that I have today.

There are indeed times when going through the course of the day that can trigger negative thoughts and emotions about things, especially when they involve the things that you must endure in your life, even if they are better than other alternatives. It can be hard at times to see other alternatives or it can cause you to think about those other alternatives thinking that they are better than what is being experienced at the current moment because there is an inability to stop and think about how good things really are and the need to be grateful for the things I do have in my life, even if I am thinking that there are things about them that may seem unpleasant, in reality, they are not as bad as they seem or really could be.

Choosing to be happy can be easy and indeed in many cases can be done whenever it is easy to autistically mask to blend in with the world that we must that is not adaptable to our needs. It can seem for many that are unaware of our total selves what we are really experiencing or when we are triggered by things and the inability to mask what we really want to express occurs, things are said about situations that are not totally true. When autistic individuals are deeply triggered and are near their boiling point, it can be hard to stop and think about things before a batch of energy is released that is not healthy, helpful and can many times be untrue because what is true is not actualized and accepted for what it is.

Yes, there is a sense of acceptance when it comes to the situations that are dealt with. It is also essential to make a list of the pros and cons of the situation you are in compared to previous situations or other alternatives. This is what made me able to accept my current situation as far as my home and has been a useful tool in seeing the good things and being grateful for every one of them. It will take time as it has for me, but eventually you will see the things that can allow you to be happy and see that you need to be grateful for.
