At times, there are things that all humans must withstand that are out of our locus of control. In that moment, it is important to remember that there are certain things that we do have control of such as our emotions and how we conduct ourselves that are key in being able to adapt to things that may be unpleasant for us to understand or undergo.

Not everything can be as rigid as we would like. There are going to be times when things just happen, and we are going to have to deal with the circumstances that come with it. When things do not go our way, they set us back or whatever may cause us as autistic beings to be agitated, it is always important to remember how we conduct ourselves so that we do not embarrass ourselves or make ourselves foolish.

When I had my last meltdown a few months ago, I could sense more that others were looking and commenting on how I was conducting myself as a person. It got me to realize that it is important to focus more on the things that I can control rather than the things that I cannot control. It is important to work on the skills that I have acquired and keep to myself if necessary to be able to hone on calming myself in the manner that I need to so I do not cause any friction with others because it is important now more than ever that I be able to control myself and not allow myself to be triggered by the things that I cannot control.

When things happen that require me to be more flexible, it can be difficult to adjust to what I need to do, but I also know that I do not want to embarrass myself by lashing out at others that have known how much I have improved over the years and that I can control my emotions when I am agitated until it is safer to express them in the ways that I know how to. I do know that my recent trips to the gym have helped me in this arena express the frustration that I have at times with things that I may need to be more flexible with and while it can be hard to understand that things do not always go the way that I think that they should be, it is important to be able to conduct myself in the manner that I have proven myself that I am able to do. Therefore, it is imperative that I do my best to act in such a way that I know that I can do.

It can be hard to be flexible, especially if there are other circumstances in the mix that it can add an additional layer of agitation to what is being experienced but it is knowing that things go smoothly if I just do the best I can to focus on keeping myself under control and not focusing on things that I cannot and undertake the things that I must do even if they are hard for me to understand, eventually the agitation will pass until there are safer ways for me to channel out my frustrations in a safer manner that I can do on my own in a safer space and with those that will not be as agitated as I am or not be able to withstand what I have to share with others . It is important to continue to work on what I need to do to be a more successful person in a world that is constantly changing.
