While the last few weeks have indeed been challenging, it does not give me a reason to continue to wallow in self-pity about something that while it is a change, I have no control over the situation and I must do whatever is necessary to manage myself through it, even if I may not want to.

Sometimes this means things as easy as remembering stay awake throughout the day when you may not find a reason to because you are so down and out about the things you cannot change, Doing that is not going to bring anything back to what you want them to and as hard as it can be for you to focus your energy to a better place such as I am doing when I am writing a blog post like this, it is better to do that than retreat to bed and feel pitiful about life.

The reality is that no matter what you think you can do to change things, all you can do is prepare for what you need to do when things happen and how you can cope with the change that needs to happen. You may want to run away from what is happening, but it’s not going to change anything about it or make life easier for me at least.

There is a reality that if you like things to be a certain way, that having to go through changes to keep that piece intact as much as possible is a necessity no matter how uncomfortable it may seem at the initial moment. It takes knowing what to expect and how to go through things and having your supporters on standby knowing that they are there to support you.

Change is scary for many people, but it is also hard and inevitable, so it must be undergone no matter what you think about it. Autistic people such as I greatly fear change, especially when it is something that is unknown to them and is a change from what has happened for many years. However, there is no sense being greatly occupied in something that is not happening at that very minute. All it will do is make life for oneself very challenging and complex, thus having time lapse without thinking about it.

Being angry or upset about something you cannot control is not going to help the situation either. You must remember that it is sometimes important to keep your thoughts to yourself and not to display them in an elevated manner. That will result in nothing happening in the positive manner, especially if it is a big change that involves beyond yourself and there is no easy solution to the problems at hand.

For me, it seems often like I just want to run away and avoid the whole situation, but that does nothing to help me maintain where I need to be in life. It can be hard to see that at times, but through what I have experienced earlier this year, I know now more than ever that there are things that just must be done and the change that I must go through, no matter how much I want to avoid it, cannot be done. It is something that I must muster up and do.

Saying that and doing that are two things. But I know that I have a bunch of support behind me cheering me on as I do it. Yes, there may be some challenges along the way, but that is what life brings us sometimes as nothing can always go according to plan. This is part of preparing myself for life beyond what I have always known. It’s part of being truly independent and if I someday want to get to that place in my life, then that is where I need to be.

Nothing in life is guaranteed, so it is important to remember that we need to embrace life for what it is at times and know that we’ve got whatever we have to endure behind us, and we will shine like a diamond and come out pretty strong slaying it like a champ. It may be what we need to grow in life and realize that it is what is needed for us to be more of an adult for once. It won’t be easy in the beginning, but eventually it will be like second nature and we will eventually feel comfortable with the way things are.
