One of the biggest thoughts when pondering things while having second thoughts about it is What If? For many years, my life used to be embedded in the thought that if I did things that I was not supposed to, the worst possible scenario would take place. Now that I am better, that way of thinking has diminished.
So, when one lives their life constantly worrying about all the things that could happen, it’s also good to think about the good things that could happen if you just be receptive to doing something that is out of your comfort zone. There’s a big difference between doing and saying and I certainly know that. I looked at three different living situations in 12 years before realizing that I could be successful at living on my own.
Now that’s not to say that the experience is going to be foolproof. Even those who are educated the most about living independently are going to have something not go the way that it is supposed to. I can tell you firsthand that the unexpected is going to happen. It’s just how you respond rather than react to a situation.
Without a doubt, the unexpected is going to happen. When this used to happen to me, I lived my life in fear, thinking the worst possible outcome was going to happen and I was going to be in so much trouble. It took me many years to realize that I just needed to be honest with myself and do what is necessary to remedy the situation at hand, to rectify the situation and try to work at making things worse than they need to be.
Personally, I wish I had thought with this mindset years ago. While I have anxiety, having things like medication, and the proper skills and knowledge necessary to muddle through the challenges that I face in my journey can go a long way to making my life so much more relaxing! Knowing what to do when faced with obstacles on my own can be challenging, especially when I cannot reach out for an answer from someone that I trust.
Thankfully nowadays, we have so much technology that finding the answer to nearly anything we may face, However, even in 2023, judgement must be exercised when knowing if the answer that you are going to receive by that online search is trustworthy and comparable to meeting your needs. You know yourself best and only you can make the decision to best get yourself on the right track.
Again, life is going to be trial and error, essentially live and learn. Much of my adulthood has been that way and I have not always made the wisest of decisions for my overall well-being. Yet, not making the wisest decisions has in turn made me wiser by knowing the best thing to do when the unexpected occurs.
Sometimes others are going to be frustrated when things do not go according to plan, or you miss out on something. It can be because they worry too much whether you are doing what is best for you. Only you know yourself best. If something doesn’t seem right, then it is best to seek advice. If doing something that is intended to help is making things worse than what they intend to, then it is best to seek advice.
Ultimately, things are going to happen in your life that are beyond your control. How you handle them is key to getting back on track from where your issue began. Doing what is best is always the most important thing to remember when something happens beyond your control.
