My last post I shared was about bouncing back from adversity, something that I know is a must.
When I have been at my worst state over the past three years, I have managed to get back on track with family, my therapist and whoever needs to be involved.
Shortly after being diagnosed 25 years ago during my first inpatient hospitalization, we experienced the services provided to aid me to get what is needed.
After that and because of steadfast advocacy, my parents got me the help I needed on my own.
Both my parents and I know of far too many stories of when law enforcement is involved.
My family have experienced many of my experiences and do what they can to keep me safe.
My last experience with Law enforcement was on Labor Day weekend 19 years ago, two days after my sister was married.
Cell phones were the most expansive element of technology at the time and not everyone had them.
I was in vocational trade school, on holiday break.
Law enforcement’s solution was inpatient hospitalization. Backup was called to aid in making me comply.
I had difficulty processing all the information coming from law enforcement.
Out of what I call another blessing in disguise, the family arrived on scene.
My father. The one that is the silent partner, make sure he could keep me safe. I got to go home.
Going forward, we knew that law enforcement was, as it was then, to be used as an ultimate last resort.
My last massive setback was in 2020, amid a host of personal challenges and the COVID-19 lockdowns.
It too has some trauma tied into it. My parents kept me safe and reached out to the support system.
Thankfully, things calmed down and got better. This happened once again during the lockdowns.
Since then, I have had some tough moments, someone to talk to wasn’t always available.
I got through it in my own way. I now know the importance of family and a support system.
I am also learning what works for me and what doesn’t. How to keep engaged and not take on too much.
Knowing what a must for me is and heeding the advice of those that know me the best.
That it was what must be done when getting through the rough.
