Another blogger asked yesterday if autistics had challenges with camping.
Part of my response was that one of my challenges was dependent on the sanitary facilities.
I thought more about this topic later in the day because my day program is having a social event for the individuals at the park where programming was held a few years back as the facility was unable to be used. I will be unable to attend the event due to a previous engagement that day. However, I have been told that the portable toilet pictured has since being removed due to COVID-19. Additionally, well maintained plumbed restrooms were a short distance away.
At that time, the portable toilet pictured here was nearest the pavilion. For me specifically, unless there’s no other options (including the woods for some functions) I will avoid portable toilets from entries that I do not feel confident with. There’s local and regional businesses that I have no issue is.
As far as other toilet facilities that do not flush, unless a urinal is available I can usually manage the occasional use, but not for an extended period of time. This is primarily due to the smell and condition of the toilets.
