All through 2026, I heard repeatedly about the need for my actions to sustain a healthy diet. Success depends on it. I finally saw the benefits that it can bring to my life. It’s incredible what can be accomplished by firmly believing that you can consistently do what is needed.
Looking back, it is hard to believe. All those years that my parents instructed me about the things I needed to do had a purpose. They did not just have their own reasons to prevent me from doing them. They knew it was best for me. I was unwilling to see that what I wanted was not always aligned with what my parents wanted. Countless times, there was a reason behind it to make my life better.
I acted in ways that weren’t always the best or right. This behavior sometimes put me in compromising positions. It caused fear and concern in many. Although I was unwilling to see it then, things have been worse. There was potential for many setbacks. People preserved me from going down that path. They recognized that when I am my best self, I am capable of great things. Nonetheless, over the past few years, many people who gave me the latitude are no longer in my life. There are expectations that need to be met for where I am at any given time. I now know it is necessary to be my best self. This requires doing everything it takes every day. I do it no matter what I have to do. Even if I don’t want to. It is just what it is.
I long did things in hatred because my family told me I didn’t need to do them. They couldn’t see the consequences of leaving things undone when they are meant to be done for a reason. I had been through challenging experiences that really affected me. Even though they were not always my fault, the outcomes have been better. I needed to take better care of myself. My parents and sometimes others knew that. Each time things got worse, they braced themselves in fear and concern. I couldn’t see the damage I was doing until it was too late. I also couldn’t understand why things were what they were.
Knowing that those shopping for me were not trying to control me changed my perspective. They were actually thinking in my best interest. I realized I needed to follow what was known to work to be my best self. This understanding prevented unwanted behaviors caused by pointless and destructive decisions. I was formerly unwilling to recognize this until it was too late.
Things are different now, and the lifelines I once had are not as practical as they once were. I know I must take responsibility for doing everything needed to care for my overall wellbeing. It is uncertain what can happen at any moment to stir the pot and worsen situations. I reduce the chance for things to get worse. In doing so, I guarantee all that is needed to have the best life.
