I began the year as a much better self. I started to understand that having the old ways that kept me well all those years was beneficial. These were the years before we had the modern conveniences that technology brings us today. I realized it was a way of making me mentally well. I saw that there was so much more than allowing myself to enter trends. It kept me from falling into decline by wanting to do things that went against my mental health.
That of course started with having healthier habits. I did the things that I had long been taught were necessary for making it through the day to day. I also had the things that let me immerse myself. This helped me feel the way I once did when I did what was right. I focused on making an environment that helps me cope with the scary and challenging parts of the outside world. I did this by cleaning up the things that brought bad energy when I was unwell. I replaced them with things that I know can bring good energy within myself and make me feel good.
I had known these things for years. This was before living on my own and making the destructive decisions that I had made. They kept me well. They brought the energy of what was. They even allowed me to do things that I once enjoyed. I had done so many things in the years before life changed. They brought their own happiness. Sometimes, this happiness was expressed through thought and music. That was my healthy way of coping. Having that, along with other ways, kept me regulated when necessary. It was a part of life that kept me well, even now.
Having things that bring me comfort and joy can tremendously improve how I feel about myself. They keep me going when many things can bring me down. At times, I feel like not doing what is needed. I feel I need to make excuses to do things that can be done at another time. The memories of the songs remind me of my abilities without second guessing. They allow me to have the same energy. I can do what is needed without hesitation. Having this energy makes tasks more enjoyable and successful.
There is so much to say about getting on the right path. It is the right thing to do after dismissing the theories. These theories held me hostage in my mind. They prevented me from just doing what I needed to do. Much of that was false. Having things that help me get through the hard times has been crucial. These things allow me to do what I enjoy and relax when needed. This approach has helped the old me to emerge and let the unhealthy me disappear for good.
