Over the past year or so, I have been working to understand what I need to do. I seek to live in a world that isn’t always clearly defined for me. Eventually, I had to learn that sometimes things have to be done by me. They have to help me. It takes respecting others. I need to give them their space to do what they need to do. I look past seeing others as my friend in some situations. In certain environments, I am there to do what is needed. This requires defining what is needed for me while understanding the needs and space of others.

Making the needed changes has been hard. Yet, it has been necessary. These changes helped mold me. I need to be mentally well and do what is best for me. I must navigate new ways that need more from me. I need to be more grounded. I must be patient. I must understand that things aren’t always going to be perfect. They are not the way that I want them. At times, I am still learning to grow from this. It’s important for me to define my own boundaries. I need to understand why things need to be my own. I must keep and do them in my own time, without feeling the need to share with the world.

I learned that it’s not about having other people be my friend. It’s not about me seeking the same from them in return. It is knowing that I must define what I am there to do. This means doing what is best for me. I need to fulfill the tasks in the way they need to be done. Sometimes this involves slowing down and focusing on being my best rather than always being the fastest. It is important to rank my mental health. By doing this, I can keep boundaries and respect what is necessary in new environments. I strive to be the best by focusing on myself and doing what is needed.

Change and undefined concepts can be somewhat challenging to autistic people. You need to understand what the expectations and needs are that must be navigated. It involves having your own boundaries and respecting others’ boundaries and expectations. This makes things ultimately your cause and fault. Although it seems weird and misunderstood, it also requires knowing what needs to be addressed. Navigate what has to be while being your best self and understanding what it takes to make that happen.

I have gotten better at understanding the nature of what I must do. Others have understood my needs. I have also done the work of understanding what is needed from them. I realize that I don’t need to be a part of things that I just don’t need to be in. It involves working to find solutions that best suit me. These solutions should be easily understood. I also understand that everything will not always stay the same. Change requires learning to adapt to new circumstances. I must adapt, accept, and take action according to the current situation, not according to the past.
