Got my teeth cleaned for the first time in several years.

I, like many on the spectrum, fear the dentist.

Nor am I too good at caring for them (but I hope to change that.)

For one reason or another I put keeping up with my dental appointments off.

COVID Hit. Then everything else, eventually it became necessary to be done.

But this time I wanted to do it right. Find a dentist that understood special needs.

I searched, researched, asked in various Facebook Groups in the area.

What I had found was the common denominator.

While the Practice noted in recent newspaper article that 25% of their patients are special needs, it was made known to me by many others that crossed my path.

In July 2024 I had a consultation. In November 2024 I had cavaties filled.

Today, I went for my first cleaning in several years.

Having a dental hygienist that my mom and I knew from church helped.

Surprisingly, beside the traditional problem areas, it wasn’t all that bad.

I was very pleased to have a good report and no cavities!

From here, I know I must make an effort to be better at my oral health routine.

But for this and other things today, I am feeling grateful and blessed!

Never take things that you have for granted, care for yourself at every opportunity, for you may never know when it will be too late.

“Autistic people have challenges in their own ways, are different from person to person causing them to be managed and cope with in their very own ways that help the person best.!”
