It has been a long time since I and those that have advocated for me have been fighting stigma. Being more grounded nowadays lets me see how important it is to continue to fight it. In 2026, we still have instances where things happen that make the world aware. When people neglect their self-care, facing autism or mental health challenges can be frightening. Failing to understand necessary actions can also make living with these conditions daunting. It’s important to be consistent in doing what is needed. Additionally, when we are our best selves, we can do great things.

It took those that believed in me. They were the driving force by showing that I had what it took time and time again. Their support helped me be given the opportunities that I was given over the years. I didn’t always see that. Knowing it was a driving wedge got me in the door. It sometimes kept me there when things were not so great. If the people had not continued to see my talent, things have turned out differently. They recognized my ability. Not that I was challenging or was a problem.

Others did. It took the proof and fight of many to get me into the door. They thought I deserved to be there. Once I met those that had reservations, they told me they knew I had what it took to succeed. They said if I did what was needed, I would be fine. I proved that time and time again. It even brought extra things that brought extra opportunities and accolades that happened by my determination and dedication. I followed what was ordered. I did what was recommended for me. By doing so, I became the shining light. Sometimes I set the standard of what was to be expected.

Moving out on my own brought a learning curve. I had to understand the way things had to be done. Many others showed patience or love while I learned how to do things. This support made me successful at living on my own, even though it was hard to do it. It has taken longer than expected. In the end, I realized it required what was needed all along. I made it work in the way that was best for me.

God’s Grace has allowed me to get through the last several years unscathed from severe consequences. Measures were taken to guarantee there wasn’t a total ruckus. Nonetheless, it made me see the need to care for my mental health on a more consistent basis. I realized the importance of showing people that by caring for your mental health, you can achieve great things. This can inspire others. They can look up to me as an example. I have broken barriers. I have contributed to making things as great as they are today.
