Over the past year, I have seen many signs. They showed me why caring for my mental health is important. As hard as it is sometimes, things happened in that process of getting back on track. It took being consistent and doing what was right. More often than not, I constantly had what I needed to get through things. Life can always be unpredictable and unexpected. I have found that having what I need is more helpful than not. This support helps take off the edges of my experiences.
As hard as it can be to see that caring for yourself is best, it is important to be resilient. Experiencing what you have to go through when the treatments start in full force is challenging. Nonetheless, persistence is crucial. Granted, finding your way to where you need to be isn’t going to be perfect. Still, continuing to do what is progressively right to care for yourself is important. It shows that you have what it takes to do what is needed. You understand what is right. Over the past year, I was presented with evidence. It showed me how important it is to care for my mental health. I also realized the dangers I faced if I was not doing it.
I understood the importance of avoiding pointless and destructive decisions. I had made these kinds of decisions in the past. It had never provided me with the outcome that I desired, and it was always the wrong thing to do. In the beginning, things were hard. I needed to do what was right through my experiences. It was expected of me. Honoring my word was important to those who cared about and valued me. They wanted and expected it from me.
It can be hard to do what is expected of me even when my mind wants to play games. I must accept reality for what it is. I need to do what is necessary, no matter what it takes, to make it happen if it can happen. Although the results can’t be seen instantly, doing what is needed can show dividends later. I have seen this continue to be true. While things were not always perfect in the process or working towards having more progression, things improved over time. Those who knew me best noticed the difference in me. This change was needed to make things the best they be. I got consistently better.
It took being patient and understanding with myself in the beginning. I knew it wouldn’t be perfect. I had to do what was right as soon as possible. It wasn’t easy either, but in the end, it was worth doing what was right for the right reasons. At times, I couldn’t see that doing what was right was necessary. Yet I saw examples repeatedly of what happened when you did not do the right thing. That gave me the determination to keep doing the best that I can do.
