One thing I realized is that I can’t be hurt by the things that hurt me in the past. For years after the past did its damage, I let it consume me. I fixated and ruminated on things. I believed things because I was led to believe them. They were not the whole picture of what was going on or what should have been. Since then, I worked on my mental health. I built boundaries around the facts of what used to hurt me. I know they are history. There is so much more to life than allowing what was to control my every move.
I allowed what was engraved on my mind to be a part of my life. I did this to understand its impact. It showed me how it was hurting me. It kept me from feeling free of emotions and anxiety. I believed things that were not valid and was hurt by believing that things should be certain ways. I used this belief as a way of having my personal payback for the hurt. People who were doing nothing but helping me and admiring me became the cause of my hurt. This lasted for years during and even after the hurt. I was trapped in my pain. I couldn’t see that what I believed and the hurt I wanted to pass on were not real. There was no need for it to no longer hurt me.
The hurt that I was feeling was holding me back from living my best life possible. I allowed the things that happened to control my thoughts. I constantly felt I had to put down people. I was led to believe they were hurting me. I did not see that they also had the power to learn and grow from experiences. I also accepted that they too have their mistakes. They have needs and challenges they need to work through. I worked to not let it consume me by thinking I had to control things for my own happiness. I had to find what made me happy. I realized there was no value in letting things hurt me. Those things no longer had the capacity to do that anymore.
It felt good to be free. I knew there were so many people and things that helped me overcome the hurt I was feeling. I saw that there was life beyond the weekly order of operations. Connections and access to the outside world for personal entertainment allowed me to see past my own focus. I had felt a need for retribution. Instead, I found joy in what life had to offer. There was so much more to see than what I allowed to consume my life.
Sometimes we need a divine intervention from what is hurting us. There are ways things bog down our lives and deny us the clarity we need. We need freedom to rid ourselves of what no longer serves us at our best. I saw that what I had allowed to consume my mind was now seen differently. I realized that I was safe. My needs were met. I no longer gave it the power to hurt me. It no longer brought me down like it did for too long.
