Throughout the last several years, I focused on thinking about things that didn’t really matter at the time. I didn’t have the power to change them. In reality, I was doing fine and accepting them for who and what they were. Still, I didn’t allow myself to see that there was so much more to think about. I dwelled on trying to fix the pain from the past instead of working to let it go.

I allowed myself to be consumed in thinking about things that were bothering me. I wanted to fix them but did not have the power to. I knew I had to practice radical acceptance. This would help me work through the hard parts. I needed to accept and see past what was. I realized it was not only not coming back, but I didn’t need to give it the attention I did. It or those involved couldn’t hurt me anymore. I experienced things in a much better and healthier way. This change allowed things to be so much better for me. Even though there was a time when they were in limbo, they are now shored up in place. I do not need to worry about them so much anymore. They do not consume me like they did.

What made me change was seeing that there was so much more to consider. I realized I was focusing on only a few things. I played games with my mind, dwelling on past hurts. I thought about the power I wanted, believing I needed it a certain way for comfort and solace. Ultimately, I found comfort realizing there was no need to think about purposeless things. Instead, I saw there was much to discover beyond my rumination and obsessive thoughts.

What happened in the past happened. I needed to work on forgetting about it. I also had to let go of the discontent I had about it. I had to set boundaries around those stressful things. They triggered me to want to regress to my earlier beliefs. The energy felt like what was experienced in the past, even though it couldn’t hurt me anymore. When it happens, I and others know I need my space. This helps me avoid being fueled to react as I did in the past. I have to overcome my anxiety and anger by being better. By doing so, I become a shining example that you can overcome hard things. Life can be much better if you want to make it that way.

The last few years, I held onto thoughts and feelings about the past. I needed to let go of what was a part of it. I was in a better place. Things were finally figured out and settled for a change. I began to see that what was hurting no longer had the power to hurt me anymore. It was not worth the energy that I put into it and there was so much more to find joy in,
