As I get older and more mature, I realize the things I did to cause my anxiety. I understand that I have to approach things differently. Facing uncomfortable situations requires bravery and patience. I need to avoid doing things that can cause unnecessary anxiety. I am in a much better place mentally. This helps me do the things I need to without overreacting. I can do what needs to be done without causing infliction in others.

In the past, anxiety got the best of me. It made me irritable. I didn’t know what to do to comfort myself. I struggled to stay calm and grounded. I needed to know that I was safe and my needs were met. I did not listen to instructions or follow orders. Instead, I let my anxiety and irritation override my thoughts. I was told to be patient, but I acted out of anxiety and irritability. I did not use the control I had. I thought things would be easier if I pushed harder. I was anxious and irritable, so I wasn’t patient. I lacked faith that things would work out for the best.

I realized that I must take my medication exactly as prescribed. I need to do this each and every day. I was not fearful of taking it because of what I observed. Instead, it was knowing that giving it time to do what it needed to do was crucial. Doing what I had the control to do made the battle less combative. With time, things would get better in the long run. I realized I was reluctant to do things in the past. This reluctance held me back from what I knew I had the power to do. I was not caring for myself as I needed. I did not listen to what I was told. I learned to do what was necessary to handle uncontrolled situations. I recognized that I didn’t have to overthink things. The medication I battled with was actually a useful tool. It helped take the edge off my experiences. I realized that the medication allowed me to be calmer and more regulated. It gave me the bravery and patience needed for my challenges.

Countless others have gone through the same thing that I experienced. By not taking my medication or caring for my mental health, I initially struggled. Getting back on track allowed me to see my past mistakes. I realized I was unwilling to listen to what I was being told because I wasn’t caring for myself. By being patient and brave, I gained the power to do the same things as my peers. I overcame the anxiety and fear I had. My anxiety and fear would not have been as severe if I had cared for myself.

I am educated about the value of each of my medications. It is better to follow the orders exactly as prescribed to achieve an optimal life. By allowing myself to be brave and by being patient when needed, I can enhance my well-being.
