Over the many years I have lived in my own home, I have struggled with doing things. I have found it challenging to fill the void of time in a healthy way. I realized that being occupied and entertained is necessary for optimal overall well-being. This helps me to be my best self. That can also mean thinking in ways that are in a healthy way instead of going for what’s easy.

I have been given many things to do. They often just sit on the shelf collecting dust. I focus on what brings me the best results to find the happiness and distraction that I desire. It takes discovering what makes me happy in my taste in music. It also involves exploring things that I like but often don’t get the opportunity to see. I personally feel it brings a dopamine rush. I can no longer get this rush from doing things I once did with my family. Time no longer allows it. I am the one who controls what can make or break my mood. I strive to do what is best and brings me the happiness I seek.

I understand that there are things in the online world that can trigger old thoughts again. These triggers can prevent me from moving on even when I know those things are no longer there. It took me a lot of work to reach the mental faculties I am in today. For many years, I continued to believe flawed things. I did this without seeing the power of doing what we need to do. We do not want to do it but need to because it can make us feel better about ourselves.

Taking initiative can be challenging. Sometimes, you feel compelled to act. Yet, it will take you to a place that’s not good for you. You need to change your focus to things that bring you positivism. Stop dwelling on what feeds the energy that no longer serves you. I know I can do great things if I want to. Still, that sometimes means stepping away from the screens more. Getting more natural and old school with myself out of necessity comes before wanting to do it.

Switching away from entertaining myself with unhealthy rhetorical things has been hard. They no longer serve me in the same way. I see that things are different now. Sometimes, that means feeling slightly uncomfortable. This discomfort makes me feel more capable and confident. I can do the things I never wanted to do before. I lived in fear and wanted to avoid them, thinking something bad would happen if I made the slightest mistake. Adapting to the world and wanting to do things differently can be hard. But, it is what can make our lives better. We make better choices and take chances. Sometimes, we are pushed to do things we need to do. These actions help us in more ways than we think.
