A year ago this week I made the smartest decision to put up a personal boundary around someone who was very unhealthy for me. It was a very hard decision but i just ultimately made the decision on my own and it was what saved my mental health and helped me be more of who I want to be and less of who I wasn’t. I doesn’t mean that it magically disappeared as I still have to maintain a public relationship with this person and they’ve tried to push me but a year later I feel like they’ve finally got the hint that I am not backing down.
Your individuality, mental health, or whatever is not worth what someone else wants or thinks about you. You have to do what YOU need and want to do, not what others want you to do.
I am a much better person today because of that decision I made on a lunch break one year ago and communicating it to them that afternoon.
It’s never too late.
