It has been some time since I have gotten my mental health in a better place. At first, it wasn’t easy. There were some instances where I was not totally my best. Eventually, I realized that it was crucial to care for it exactly as prescribed to me. It was that way for a reason. I realized that doing the necessary things helped me. I stopped thinking about what I believed those things did. As a result, I was much better. I saw the things that once brought me joy come back.

We often become our worst due to our mental health. This often happens because we are not caring for ourselves properly. We do not follow what is recommended or ordered for us. People that do not recognize that there are issues do some pretty bad things, I am living proof of that. I felt miserable. Despite not wanting to do what I needed to do repeatedly to care for myself, I let the decline happen. I believed many things that were not true. I thought bad things would happen.

I had to learn to trust. The medicine I was taking was not working in the way I had thought. Fighting against it for so long was unnecessary. When I first got back on track, it did not mean that things were so bad. It also did not mean that bad things would happen. I had to also understand that the medicine was not as consistent in my system. It would take time for the difference to become a reality. It took being patient with the beginning side effects that made me feel the way that I knew I would, but understand that I had to be kind to myself and work to see that it was a good thing to do what I needed to do,

I knew that I was working and going to day services. These places serve individuals with mental health issues. Problems occur when medications are not adhered to properly. I realized that if I continued down the pointless and destructive path, things would happen that I did not want. I chose to become consistent. It also required research to understand why the medication was important beyond what I initially believed. I learned to be kind to myself while being consistent with my mental health treatment.

All the things I believed would happen when I took the prescribed medication did not happen. I thought I would miss out on things, or something would occur. Things were rough in the beginning. It took persistence and understanding. It was better for me to take the medication as I had for decades. I would achieve a better outcome over time. I needed to be persistent in my efforts to keep optimal well-being. Consistency in these efforts was also crucial.

I was consistent and received compliments from people. This made me realize that taking the medications was worthwhile. The things I used to enjoy seemed the same as before. I was not as dysfunctional as I once was. The medications used for treatment were effective. I had to see past the beliefs I held about myself. I knew I was finally doing the right thing.
