When something finally comes to fruition, and you can see the difference that it brings to your mental health and essentially abolishes the anxiety that you once had about the issues that you faced along with the fact that the projection of having a meltdown about it is nearly nonexistent, you realize that things can change for the better and can be different.
Anyone who knows me knows that I can be very hesitant to change the way things are done in my life. I cling on to the last possible moment to make that change as well as have ruminating and intrusive thoughts about it thinking the worst possible scenario about it as if the most tragic consequences are going to happen.
Sometimes, things as we know them change from their history that has resonated with it. It is the basis of what we want to subject ourselves to, being resistant to make the change that is necessary because we imagine that what we already have been experiencing is already going to be much worse. We do not allow ourselves to be receptive to change and see that there can be a difference in something from what was or what we believe about what the upcoming change is.
Holding judgment over something because it had a deeply rooted stigma about it without first giving it a chance to see if it will work is yourself not being willing to make a change. I firsthand know how hard it can be to hold judgment about something because of information you are fed up with and not allowing yourself to give the new change a chance. When a change was announced in the way that I would get to work and day services, I was very apprehensive. I thought that I would leave everything and get into the life of a beggar and even as extreme as a dumpster diver. I was the one that was unwilling to see that what was working for an extended period was being inefficient and that I had to be open and receptive to trying something that I was assured would work.
Being able to see it work has allowed me to be more comfortable in my own way and learn how to establish boundaries and things that I need help with to allow me to get into the new way of how things are done. Yes, it has been a change to my daily routine, but there are many other benefits that pay off that have made my anxiety and stress become nonexistent. Sometimes we must be pushed out of our comfort zone and be able to see that things are not as bad as we believe that they are.
It even allows us to see that we even need to expand what the new thing can do a step forward. As there continues to be more of a push forward and that we can see that we have outgrown what we have felt so comfortable doing. We sometimes did not realize that what we have always thought would be there has held us back for some time that we need to move on with our lives.
Being able to see that we can have additional tools to help us be independent and that those tools are not as frightening as they claim to be, that we sometimes have to let our past conceptions go and be willing to see that something intended to help us can work and that we need to let go of our past judgments about things and see that not only things do change, but you can grow and be more of the person that you need to be the independent person that you need to be.
