Note: As part of my Day Program, I contribure to the program’s newsletter. In June 2021, that Newsletter transitoned to a monthly basis as much of the elements of the program are back to a in-person status.
New Year. New Ideas
For the start of 2023, I went with my parents on a “First Day Hike.” These are sponsored by America’s
State Parks and we went to a familiar state park but on new land they acquired. We hiked a 1/2 Mile out
to a lookout tower and got to see in all directions from on top of a Ridge. Then, we went to another state park to see the waterfalls lighted at night, something that we as a family haven’t done for awhile. I definitely treasured these moments as I know they are never promised to happen again given my parent’s age

As for the new year, my plan it to be more proactive about limiting the amount of soda that I am consuming. Prior to the start of the new year, I was consuming anywhere from 4-6 liters a day of sometimes regular sugared soda. I am presently working on limiting that process by eliminating regular soda completely out of my food plan and reducing overall soda consumption by half. It is a slow process and it is seeming as of this writing to be working for the better.
Making these small changes will hopefully kick start my weight loss for the better and I will lose some weight in 2023. While I do have a certain target in mind, it will depend where in the year I reach it that will determine whether or not I will keep going or not. It is having a positive mindset that hopefully will keep
me going whenever I need that boost of confidence to keep plugging along.
